OH seniors Shaniya Love and Iara Ferrer began their own nail tech businesses during their junior and senior years respectively, and have been giving customers beautiful nails ever since.

Love got her inspiration to do people’s nails by her mother, a licensed cosmetologist who has her own business. Love has always been around cosmetology from a young age due to her mother’s occupation.

Ferrer also got her love of nails from when she was a kid.  “I have always liked nails since I was a little girl. I would get press on nails and spend all my birthday money on nails,” said Ferrer.

Since Love only started expanding her nails to other customers this year, her pricing starts from $40 for only gel on natural nails, $50 for only color on acrylics, and $55 for art on acrylics.

Ferrer has been working as a nail tech for longer, so her pricing only varies on the length of the nail, starting with $40 for one magnet to $100 for eight magnets. Any design she does is not an extra charge, no matter how extravagant.

Despite their different approaches to pricing, Love and Ferrer both love making their clients feel special.  “I like getting to connect with my clients and bond with them,” said Love.

Similarly, Ferrer shared that she “really love[s] making girls feel confident in themselves” through the process of getting their nails done.

Love and Ferrer both advertise their business using their Instagram accounts. Potential clients can find them through their accounts: @iaras_nailss  and @the_shaniyalove.

Even as seniors, both girls work as nail techs like professionals who have been doing so for years. They both do all different types of nail designs and shapes, and, according to both techs, anything their clients could think of.

With Homecoming coming up soon, Love and Ferrer anticipate being very busy with clients coming to get nails to match their Homecoming outfits, so students are encouraged to book with them as soon as possible.
