Achieving her goals: Addison Richter’s journey to state
With her mind racing and heart pounding, she stood at the line. She tuned out the roar of the crowd as she waited for the pistol to start. 3, 2, 1, go! The race had begun. On Nov. 4, junior Addison Richter participated in the State Championship for Cross Country and represented Oswego High School as the 17th individual runner in the school’s history.
Ink180 gives survivors a second chance
According to the U.S. Department of State, approximately 6.3 million people unwillingly participated in forced commercial sexual exploitation at any given time in the United States in 2021. This issue is present everywhere, but Illinois specifically is a hotspot for sex trafficking and human trafficking in general. Ink180 is a prominent business in the Oswegoland community that helps people recover from traumatic experiences, promotes community activism, and increases awareness about the dangers of sex trafficking, both locally and nationally.
Happy & healthy: OH students enjoy new cafeteria menu
A new school year brings a multitude of new changes, and the rebranding of the Panthers Rally Cafe is a big one for OH students. The new menu adjustments aim to provide the student body more nutritious and diverse options for school lunches. According to Rick Cliffe, the Lead OH cafeteria professional, “The menu changed drastically from last year to this year, just going from basically heat-and-serve to actually putting things together this year with the test kitchen.”
2023-2024 Homecoming Court Announced
At the beginning of second period on Sept. 22, the Student Council President, junior Kyra Pattison, announced the 2023-2024 Homecoming Court to the student body over the intercom. The nominees excitedly gathered in the main office to receive their sashes and take a picture together. The nominations for Homecoming King were seniors Mario Cielo-Salinas, Drake Dunnett, Aidan Poniatowski, Cole Sobotka, and Lemmarr Thomas.
Oswego Public Library Celebrates National Library Card Sign-up Month
For the month of September, the Oswego Public Library is encouraging people in the community to sign up for library cards to participate in the nationwide National Library Card Sign-Up Month celebration.
