My name is Miranda Cook, and this is my second year being a part of 42Fifty! I am a senior at OHS, and I am on the varsity cheer team. I enjoy taking photos and hanging out with my friends in my free time, and I cannot wait to continue my career in journalism!

Mind of an athlete: More OH students commit to colleges for athletics

The class of ‘24 is nearing the end of their high school career, and deciding where their lives will go in the following years. For these specific seniors, they have chosen to continue their athletic careers into college. The determination and persistence of these seniors is easy to go unrecognized, but it is important to know all that goes into the commitment process.

On Monday, Feb. 12, the OH girls basketball team lost against Waubonsie Valley in their second regional game. With a final season record of 9-24, the team focused on celebrating seniors Emily Mengerink and Kaelyn Stager for their contributions to the program.

Day-in-the-life: National Athletic Director of the Year Darren Howard

OH Athletic Director (AD) Darren Howard was nationally recognized this year for his accomplishments for OH athletics. This summer, Howard was named National High School Athletic Director of the Year by the National High School Athletic Association.  Because of his success, 42Fifty shadowed Howard to see what a day in the life was like for an award-winning AD.

Kiyah Chavez delivers success to OH wrestling program

OH junior Kiyah Chavez has received a tremendous amount of recognition as she succeeds through her wrestling season. Starting the winter season on the OH girls basketball team, she eventually decided to leave the basketball program and join the new-found girls wrestling team. 

Breaking News: OH outdoor track will not be ready in time for the 2024 track season

This past year, OH athletics has worked with the district to upgrade the outdoor track and tennis courts. With minimal updates on the progress, OH principal Chris Grays sent out an email to panther families updating them on the track’s readiness for the spring season.
