This past NFL offseason was loaded with surprising moves, like Odell Beckham Jr. packing his bags for Cleveland, Le’veon Bell forgoing his long vacation to sign with the New York Jets, and Landon Collins signing a massive deal with the Washington Redskins. But no acquisition turned heads like the announcement made by Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, leaving football fans speechless. Junior high teachers keep sports by accepting lower coaching stipends
This school year, junior high teachers in District 308 accepted decreased coaching stipends to continue the sports programs at the junior high level. They took these steps in response to District 308 choosing between cutting stipends or converting all competitive junior high sports into intramural teams.
A bright future ahead: $18,700 grant awarded to the OHS Metals Program
As a result of a proposal written by metals teacher Mr. Alejandro Rodriguez, the Oswego High School Metals Department was granted $18,700 from the Tooling and Manufacturing Association (TMA). This money will be used to purchase two lathes, which are large machines used to shape metal. This grant will allow the program to thrive for many years to come.
A bittersweet farewell: Looking back on Ms. Calvert’s time at OHS
Ms. Melissa Calvert, the Assistant Principal for Student Services, recently announced plans to become the Assistant Principal at Wheaton-Warrenville South High School next school year. During her time at Oswego High School, Calvert served as a Spanish teacher, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal for Student Services, her hardworking nature paving the way for advancement within the school.
