Breaking News: Incident with knife resolved quickly

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 1:46 p.m., administrators emailed OH families to inform them that a fight broke out during the fifth-to-sixth period transition, and one of the students pulled out a knife. “The situation was under control quickly as students were separated[[,]] and our School Resource Officer immediately responded. There was no disruption to the school schedule as it was dissolved rapidly,” the email explained. “Police and school officials are taking this situation very seriously, conducting thorough investigations.”

After working hard for a long time or a monotonous routine, everyone wants a break to clear their minds. To some students, winter break is an exciting time to go on a vacation, relax, and not worry about school and drama. No one is alone in their anxiety, and everyone can feel stressed sometimes.

Tis the season of Lovejoy: Twisted X-Mas at the Aragon Ballroom

As a fan of Lovejoy for almost four years, I had the chance to experience my first-ever concert on Dec. 6, 2023, at the Twisted X-Mas event in the Aragon Ballroom. And while my review will most definitely be a biased opinion by someone who only came for one band, and has never had a previous experience, the concert was incredible. “I was really excited to finally see Lovejoy, since I’ve been such a huge fan ever since I discovered them,” concert attendee and OH freshman Ty Mueller said.

OH staff member Michael Jacobs dies at 41

Oswego High School special education teacher and soccer coach Michael Jacobs, 41, passed away Dec. 18, 2023. He resided in Riverside, Illinois.

Schoenbach named finalist for 2024 music educator award

On Dec. 3, 2023, OH band director Kevin Schoenbach received the best present of all: an email notifying him he was one of 25 semifinalists for the Grammy Music Awards. Then, Dec. 12, 2023, at 9:59 a.m., the Grammy website published the national 2024 Music Educator Award finalists, listing him as one of ten finalists.
