On Feb. 13, the OH chess team made its way down to Peoria to compete at the IHSA Chess State Finals. The tournament hosted over 120 schools with around 10 students in a team.  OH collectively scored 27.5, which placed them 102nd overall in the tournament. Across 11 members representing OH, there were 22 wins and five draws.  “Personally I think I could've done better as a teammate, and gotten a few more wins for us," said OH junior Jackson Felker. "But overall as a team I think we did really well.”

YouTuber and internet personality Mark Fishbach (aka Markiplier), based on the 2022 video game by David Szymanski, opened in over 4,000 screens worldwide.  Set in a post-apocalyptic future after "The Quiet Rapture” causes all stars and habitable planets to vanish, convict Simon (Mark Fischbach) is sentenced to pilot a small submarine, the “Iron Lung,” through a blood ocean on a desolate moon. As he explores, he uncovers a way to save humanity and the terrifying truth behind its destruction. “I thought it would be kinda cheesy with all of this coming from a YouTuber, but it was a very entertaining movie, and I would watch it again,” said OH senior Grady Sobotka

“I Win”: Hoosiers secure first CFP Championship in school history

The Indiana Hoosiers hailing from Bloomington, Indiana, are the 2026 College Football National Champions.

This week, the Indiana Hoosiers, led by Coach Curt Cignetti and Heisman winner Fernado Mendoza, completed the fairy tale turnaround in only the second year of the 12-team college football playoffs. The Hoosiers beat the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 in the CFP Championship Game on Jan. 20 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.  “I truthfully didn't expect things to go the way they did," said OH senior Logan Nieves. "I don't think anybody thought it would’ve been Miami playing Indiana.”  Both teams have had quite a story leading into the Championship game. The Indiana Hoosiers went 3-9 in the '23-24 season and finished last in the Big Ten Conference standings.

“Pilgrims Paradise,” “Freudian,” “CASE STUDY 01,” “NEVER ENOUGH,” and now “Son of Spergy:” Daniel Ceaser released a new album after two years, leaving fans in shock with its beautiful sound and chords. The album, released this fall, was highly anticipated throughout the announcement. “I was super pumped that he was actually releasing again,” said OH junior Jordyn Becker. “It’s been quite a minute since he’s released.” Though Ceaser had shown no indication of releasing an album after his 2023 hit “NEVER ENOUGH,” he was still active in the music community, helping produce the late 2024 hit “CHROMAKOPIA” by Tyler The Creator and frequent interviews with the artist.
