On Feb. 24, the Oswego location of Tap House Grill announced its immediate closure on Facebook. Oswego housed one of the seven Tap House Grill locations across Illinois.  “We have enjoyed being a part of this town and engaging with this community for many years…Unfortunately, with every factor impacting restaurants today, we are just not able to continue to make it work,” stated Tap House Grill representatives on Facebook.

The man behind the murals: Spevere and his artistry

The OH art programs aim to foster education through the creativity of students' work. However, OH senior Anthony Spevere has gone the extra mile and created a business out of his art. Spevere’s artistic style is different from most as he creates bubble letters and cartoons from graffiti. “I started drawing graffiti right before the COVID lockdown after watching videos from people like SIVE on YouTube,” Spevere said. “Once we were fully in lockdown, I didn't have much to do so I filled a lot of my time with drawing graffiti.”

The sun is shining, the weather is getting warmer, and spring athletes are preparing for upcoming tryouts. Sports such as soccer, tennis, and volleyball are gearing up for a brand new season. To prepare, coaches host open gyms to help students practice and get a feel for the sport. According to coaches, background in the sport is not required but is encouraged.  "Just have fun and be open to coaching," boys volleyball coach Chase Mang said. "Most of our freshmen level athletes are new to the sport, so they are learning a lot. That is completely okay and expected."

Hall passes pilling up: Pros and cons of the little orange slips

Students are consistently asking for the little orange passes, some taking advantage of leaving class, but could it be becoming too much? Shown is a pile of orange hall passes and a few tardy slips as collected by one teacher since only the start of second semester. Credit: Miley Salas, 42Fifty

Various forms of hall passes have been around for decades at OH, although no source could say when they were first truly established. OH staff cannot stress enough the importance of these passes. Students? Not so much. OH Dean Susan Johnson said, “I honestly couldn't say when hall passes were first established here at OH, this being my third year here, [[but]] I can say that the [[kind of printed, paper]] orange passes did start when I first got here.”

Grammys 2025: To snub or not to snub?

The 2025 Grammys had us feeling Short and Sweet as it closed out a spectacular year of music with performances, tributes, and awards.  However, some felt Blue and disappointed over the winners and results of categories like Record of the Year and Country Album of the Year. “I don’t think the Beyoncé album was that good…I personally think Billie Eilish should have won. Hit Me Hard And Soft has been all over the internet, I can’t go a day without hearing at least 2 songs of hers,” said OH sophomore Faith Smith.
