Ditto use transform: Pokopia’s new take on the Pokémon formula
Our Pokémon protagonist seems to be a little off this time around. The Pokémon game formula is a tried and true method, and exhibits few variations across generations. Since the very first release of Red and Green in 1996, the gameplay has been about the same: a protagonist at the ripe age of eleven sets off on a grand journey to defeat the gym leaders of the region and become the Pokémon champion. “I have played pretty much every Pokémon game, including spin-offs, and this game is such an amazing deviation from the usual money-hungry formula,” said OH senior Kayden Rudny.
Cartoon: Two steps forward, one step back
March sometimes feels like a month of two steps forward and one step back. In this cartoon installment, Art & Graphics Editor Pierre Vargas explores the change of seasons as February's furry groundhog welcomes March's leprechaun into the blizzard conditions still present mid-March. With the snow on the ground as we woke up this morning, OH students are all-too-familiar with the change of weather, several of which are sure to come before we really enter true spring.
‘I vant more originality’: The many adaptations of Dracula
It would not be a terribly inaccurate statement to say there is not a person on Earth who does not know Dracula. In some way, shape, or form, everyone has at least heard the famous story of the vampire that popularized Gothic horror for centuries to come. This is all to say that there are thousands of different ways the story has been spun, but has it been overdone? Is there anything original to be said about the story without deviating from the original book so much that it’s no longer the same story? “Vampire stories are still worthy because they explore powerful themes like loneliness and temptation, but suck when they rely on clichés,” said OH junior Hannah Eminger.
