Just hours removed from the saddening news, the Panthers (3-0) took to the gridiron to take on Plainfield South (1-2), where the Panthers would defeat the visiting Cougars 34-6.
The Oswego Panthers varsity team opened up its football season on Friday when it played and defeated Plainfield Central 42-3. The offensive attack was lead by junior first year starting quarterback Cole Pradel, who threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns in just two quarters of play. Senior running back Charles Laird also was a major contributor to the offense, cashing in three touchdowns.
Oswego High School (7-0, 3-0) took on its rival from down Wolf’s Crossing, Oswego East (4-3, 0-3), in the 15th annual Crosstown Game. The Panthers came in looking to stay undefeated in both the season and the all-time series against the Wolves. Oswego played a complete game on both sides of the football, winning 14-3.
Proposal 23 was voted into fruition in December 2018 by the schools that are apart of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and will go into effect in the 2021 football season.
