Oswego Varsity Girls Basketball has had a challenging season so far, currently standing at 4-16. This year, the varsity team works through their obstacles with a new head coach, David Lay. Coming from a smaller school, Plano High School, he was excited to work with a larger team and a variety of talent. 
Communities Against Cancer: Hoops for Hope is an annual fundraiser and day of basketball, hosted by Oswego and Yorkville, where money is raised for Cal’s Angels - an organization that is focused on pediatric cancer research.
Julia Henrikson, a junior at Oswego High School, has been playing basketball since second grade, along with being on the varsity basketball team since freshman year.
The crosstown rivals had played two competitive games prior to their matchup on Tuesday. However, Oswego was out for blood last night, as it avenged its loss from a week ago with a 53-28 win over Oswego East and advanced to the regional championship.
