The timeline of our very own school’s history is more complex and interesting than we think—so, let’s take it back a few years, pull out those blueprints, and investigate the beginnings of OHS.
Freshman Michael Holmstrom is a student-athlete swinging into his high school career with a great start: a spot on the varsity golf team and impressive scores to match. For the [Illinois Junior Golf Association]’s (IJGA) Mid-American Junior Golf Tour, Holmstrom participated in six events and nine rounds, finishing in the Top 10 twice, and Top 25 three times.
Lani Breedlove is a name that no one at Oswego High School should be a stranger to today. Frequently making Athlete of the Week titles and her name presented on the school sign outside the main entrance, this senior has impacted the bowling community at OHS like no other.
I round the door of sophomore Xania Kimberly Ward’s classroom and see that she is alone, silent, on her phone. In fact, as I glance around while walking toward her, the whole classroom is silent and on their phones.
Many factors go into being a great student, like great determination and perseverance. More so, it takes a strong mindset to become a leader. Atharva Iyer has both.
