After reviewing District 308’s plan to return to in-person school come early December, the 42Fifty Staff sees several flaws that need to be addressed in order for students and staff to be successful.
In this article, we are going to try and clear up any misconceptions and answer FAQ’s submitted by students and parents via our Instagram (@oh42fifty) and other questions we have discovered on social media.
In an email that went out to Oswego School District 308 staff members this afternoon, it was announced that Ignite 308, a professional development day for staff members across the district held at Oswego High School on Tuesday, March 17, has been canceled, and that the day will be used by teachers to develop activities for students that could be done in the event of school closures as a result of COVID-19 concerns. 
What students and faculty didn’t know was that the world as we knew it was about to change. Not just for a few weeks, or a few months, but for the next year.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools across the nation have turned to remote virtual learning as they practice social distancing and self-quarantining. This may look different for everyone, as both teachers and students have to adapt to this new form of education. SD308 itself has to adjust to this system of distance learning that may likely last until the end of the year based on orders given by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
