Prom and graduation have been rescheduled for June 20 and 27, respectively. The announcement regarding prom was made in an email sent to students and parents of non-seniors. Senior students and their parents received an email with a flyer containing information regarding both prom and graduation.

Graduation is still going to be held at Northern Illinois University, despite NIU having canceled ceremonies for its own students. The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Cap and gown as well as ticket information will be shared by the district “at a later time.”

Both prom and graduation had to be postponed after the Illinois Stay at Home Order was extended to April 30. This also follows an email from Oswego High School principal Mr. Mike Wayne on April 3 in which he promised to reschedule events that help to define a senior year.

OHS’s prom on June 20 will be held at Bobak’s signature events in Woodridge. Prom ticketing information will, like graduation ticket information, be “coming soon.”

Graduation rehearsal has also been rescheduled. It will take place in the OHS Main Gym at 9 a.m. on June 26, the day prior to the actual ceremony.

“Events are subject to changes or cancellation based upon direction from health and/or government officials,” the district flyer stated.

The district also alluded to possibly attempting to reschedule other spring events as well, as “additional announcements regarding Spring events will be distributed when available.”

No further announcements have been made regarding the possibility of a spring sport season or the possibility of a return to school.
