Soleimani was a powerful general in Iran’s military force from 1979-2020, with his death ending his service. Many American military deaths were caused by missile attacks planned by him. According to a release by the U.S. state department, since 1998 Soleimani commanded Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qods Force (IRGC-QF), known for its relationship in causing terror outside of Iran’s borders. The United States designated the IRGC-QF as a foreign terror organization and Soleimani as a terrorist. The IRGC-QF has been responsible for arming, funding, and training different groups surrounding Iran.
