Oswego High School’s varsity Panthers overcome losing streak by defeating Joliet West with a  7 – 3 win.

Varsity OPS had home field advantage while facing off against the Tigers, receiving their first home win of the season. The win redeemed themselves after a 0 -1 loss home against Minooka.

Team members Hanna Lee and Anaka Carlson contributed to the Panther win greatly, with Lee’s strong up top advancements, as well as putting one up in the first half. Carlson earned a hat trick this game, scoring three of her own goals assisted by the team. But while communicating well and playing with a whole team effort, the Panthers were able to secure the great win.

Varsity coach Kelsey Champion, who played for OHS during her high school career, was nothing but proud and happy after the win: “I’m so proud of us as a whole. We’ve had a rough couple of games, but we were able to put up a great scoring advantage early, and we got the win we deserve. We were communicating, making great runs and passes, and we played smart. That’s why we got the win. If we keep this mentality, we’re going to go far this season,”

The Panthers’ record is now 3 – 4, and they are striving to overcome their deficit of losses and begin their win streak.

OPS’ next game will be against the Waubonsee Valley Warriors on home field April 7. Come out and show your support!
