Fortnite Battle Royale has wrapped up its Season 2 on Feb. 21 after a few weeks of being live and Season 3 released the next day to bring many different new items to the game.

Fortnite has many different cosmetic items in the game which attracts many people to play. Most of these items are found in the Battle Pass. The Battle Pass is a seasonal item one can purchase for 950 V-Bucks or $10. This pass allows the player to level up and earn more rewards than usual. The pass for Season 2 had a theme which was medieval themed. With the Season 3 Battle Pass, the theme has changed. This theme is space. There has been an increase to the amount of tiers to unlock rewards. There are now 100 tiers instead of the standard 70. This means that there is many more items to unlock.

This update, named v3.0.0, also brought many different elements to the game. One of these things was the new weapon, the hand cannon. The hand cannon is a very high damaging pistol, but it has a slow firing rate. This weapon can be found as floor loot, in chests and in supply drop as Epic and Legendary variants. This high powered weapon fires heavy ammo. This weapon is best used when at a short to medium range. This weapon has become very popular and it has drastically changed the meta.

Along with introducing the hand cannon, there have been other weapon changes. The pump shotgun has gotten a nerf to where you must pump the gun between shots and you cannot bypass it with running two pump shotguns. This has caused the meta to shift into many using a pump shotgun and submachine gun or double hand cannons.

For those who have already played the update, you may notice the game is running much smoother. The developers have adjusted the performance of the game and it now runs at 60 frames per second (FPS). Also switching items and building feels much better and easier to use.

This update has been marked as one of the larger updates as it includes weapon balancing, new weapons and items, and a change to how smoothly the game can run on all systems.
